Friday the 13th looms -- wouldn't you like to spend it with Dracula?
Lucard Theatrical Ltd. plans to recreate that fateful evening in 1897 when Bram Stoker produced a stage reading of his yet-unpublished Gothic novel at London's Lyceum Theater. The Toronto revival, also called Dracula or The Un-Dead (as Stoker used in his original ads) features costumes but no sets and all-professional cast. It takes place at Riverdale Presbyterian Church, not far from the hills of Riverdale Park where, as legend has it, Stoker would toboggan when he came to Toronto as a theater impresario. And this is just the beginning. Producer Alexander Galant who described Dracula as a "hobby of mine," is negotiating to bring Dracul -- An Erotic Musical to Toronto next Year. Nov 13, 8PM $15 ($10 if you arrive looking "urn-dead"), 662 Pape St., 416-961-6666
